Here you'll find an array of activities for elementary children that can be used in Children's Ministry, after-school programs, in the classroom and by homeschoolers.
John, A voice crying in the desert, had a special job to do. He prepared people to meet Jesus. The first step was and is to realize that we are sinners and to confess our sins. John called the people to repent and then to produce fruit in line with repentance. The second step is to let God change our hearts and lives to become the loving, kind, generous people He wants us to become. He sets His Spirit within us to guide and direct us.
These presentations tell about John. They are the backdrop. You are the story teller. The children are the participants. Enjoy. My hope is that we all recognize Jesus as our Savior and become like Him.
In this presentation we have fun setting the setting with candles, bread, and incense. Then the children have an opportunity to participate by acting out the story and saying the words in the conversation bubbles. Zechariah learns that he and Elizabeth will have a son. John will prepare people for Jesus’ coming. This year we did this story at Thanksgiving and we focused on prayer and praise.
Get ready for Jesus to come. Repent. Jesus washes our sins away. They disappear and are washed away. The kids will have an opportunity to see this in action as they do the object lesson. They will write sins with water soluble ink on a rock and good deeds with crayon. When washed in water the ink will disappear and the crayon will stay. For the craft they will make a texture picture of John the Baptist.
This is an interactive slide presentation where the kids get to do the craft along with the story so that they can retell the story. Get the paper here. At the end there is a tic-tac-toe game which reviews John the Baptist’s ministry, Jesus’ baptism and John’s introduction of Jesus to his followers. Do you want to follow Jesus?
I enjoy planning lessons, directing VBS and child care programs. Children's ministry is my passion. God Almighty is my strength and inspiration. For fun I choose hiking, canoeing, camping, cooking, and reading.
